Appraisal FAQs
Are all appraisals the same?
There are many different uses for appraisal reports. For example, an appraisal for insurance coverage will be quite different from an appraisal for resale. We are experienced in appraising for Insurance Coverage, Damage Claims, Downsizing for Resale, Estate Tax, Probate, Estate Planning, Divorce, and IRS Charitable Contribution Donation purposes.
How do you bill for appraisals?
We appraise by the hour. Hourly charges include the examination time spent in your home, research time, and document preparation time. Research charges can vary greatly from one appraisal to another. Items that are difficult to authenticate or that are rare may require more research.
Why should we hire Singer Galleries for an appraisal?
We have been active in the antiques and art market buying, selling, and appraising for over 30 years. Over the years we have developed a large wealth of personal knowledge and many contacts in the industry.
What type of work have you completed as an appraisal?
Over the years Scott has been hired for many interesting projects. Scott is frequently hired by both PEMCO and SAFECO Insurance Companies to value items that have been damaged or stolen. When a large Seattle company moved many of its executives out of state, Scott was hired exclusively to appraise the personal property being moved by City Moving Systems. Scott has experience as an expert witness and appraiser for many local cases.
